Glycosaminoglycan

Glycosaminoglycan

Glycosaminoglycans are long unbranched polysaccharides. They are highly polar and attract water. They are therefore useful to the body as a lubricant or as a shock absorber. The most common GAG is chondroitin sulfate.

Also known as:  Mucopolysaccharides, GAGs
