Collagen is a peptide and component of joint cartilage. It is particularly helpful because of its high amount of Glycine, its major protein, of 30%. Glycine helps, amongst others, in detoxification. According to a small study, the absorption rate is independent of the source of collagen (see ConsmerLabs)
